Gotta Give Some Praise!
You know, it's so often easier to rant than it is to rave about a good experience, isn't it?
I'm working with a buyer client who is currently living out of state. They're in the process of relocating to the Charlotte NC (particularly Harrisburg NC) area, once their home is built. They very wisely chose to use a buyer agent when purchasing new construction.
Based on their price range and desired area, we settled on a builder. In this instance, Mercedes Homes.
They're a national builder that's been active and growing in the Charlotte NC new construction market for the past few years.
We had our pre-construction meeting last week. Since my clients aren't able to come to town multiple times, we held this meeting by conference call with myself, the builder and the onsite agent at the build site, the buyer on speaker phone. In going through the paperwork, I noted a significant change between the elevation in the blueprints and the one we'd initialled in the contract phase. (If you haven't built a home before, you usually have about 4 different exterior looks per floorplan, referred to as the elevation.)
The new look? WAAAAY nicer and prettier. Took the front and went from vinyl siding to vinyl shake siding-which is the look of cedar shakes less the maintenance! But of course, there was corporate confusion about which was which, and which one would be available to my buyers.
Several days and discussions later, the builder has emphasized repeatedly that the buyers can have whichever they want (which happens to be a mix of the two looks), as their goal is a delighted customer. How about that?
They're overnighting color samples of the shakes along with the stone sample to my clients who are moving to Harrisburg NC from Pennsylvania. They're overnighting stone-can you imagine the cost? Yet they didn't blink an eye, just knew it was the right thing to do.
My buyers are thrilled, and really excited to get a better-looking home for the same price with no delay in delivery. And I'm delighted to be a proponent of this builder, for their business practices mirror my own.
